A group of modders has pulled off something wild. They’ve created a working multiplayer mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man. And it’s out now in early access.

The first beta build is available, but there’s a catch – it’s locked behind a Patreon wall. The team says a free version will likely arrive later, once the major bugs are ironed out. No release window yet. You can check out its footage below.

What the mod offers right now

The mod supports up to 16 players. You and your friends can jump into some of the game’s main missions together. Free roam content is still in development. The team plans to make side quests work first before diving back into story progress.

There are some restrictions. Suit mods only sync if all players have them installed. The same goes for animation mods – otherwise, things won’t display properly.

This project has been in the works since August 2024. It’s taken a year to hit beta. A full, free release? Don’t expect it anytime soon. The devs could be aiming at 2027 or 2028.

It’s still a huge technical feat. Multiplayer in Marvel’s Spider-Man was never official. Seeing it work, even in rough form, is impressive. You can check out the Patreon page if you’re curious.
