SoundPEATS POP Clip review – Surprisingly smart for under £35

I wasn’t expecting much from the SoundPEATS POP Clip earbuds. At around £32 (or $40), I figured they’d be your standard budget earbuds—okay for casual listening, but nothing to write home about. However, after spending some time with them, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. These clip-on earbuds have quickly become my go-to for commuting, calls, and even binge-watching shows. For the price, they’re offering a whole lot more than I expected.

Unboxing – not much, but still fun

So, unboxing the SoundPEATS POP Clip is pretty straightforward, but there’s a bit of charm in its simplicity. It’s nothing like those over-the-top IEM unboxings where you’re pulling out a hundred different accessories. With these, you’ve just got the essentials, and honestly, that’s all you really need.

The box itself is small and clean—just a simple white box with a picture of the POP Clip on the front. Inside, you’ll find the charging case wrapped in some fitted clear plastic, neatly sitting inside a little plastic holder or tray. Once you open the case, there they are: the POP Clip earbuds, all snug and ready to go.

Under the tray, you’ll find the usual—there’s the quick-start manual, a very short Type-C charging cable, and something a little more fun: some cool Panda stickers to stick on your gear (or wherever else you want them). It’s not a huge unboxing experience, but it gets the job done.

Lightweight clip-on design that just works

First off, the design is something totally different from what I’m used to ( I am adapting to it). The POP Clip doesn’t use the usual in-ear setup; instead, it clips around the outside of my ears, which took some getting used to at first. But, I quickly appreciated the lightweight feel—at just 5 grams per earbud, you honestly forget you’re wearing them.

The titanium-reinforced nylon ear hooks are flexible enough to fit comfortably and securely around my ears, whether I’m running, cycling, or just walking through town. They never felt like they were slipping off, and the best part? No annoying pressure or discomfort, even after hours of use. Plus, I’m able to hear what’s going on around me, which is great for safety during outdoor activities.

Also, the physical buttons instead of touch controls? I can’t tell you how much I love this. No more accidentally skipping songs while trying to adjust the volume. It’s reliable and simple.

Clean, customisable audio that holds its own

I didn’t expect great sound from Pop Clip earbuds at this affordable price, but I was wrong. Out of the box, the sound leans toward clarity—vocals are sharp, and the mids come through cleanly. I was especially impressed by how well the earbuds handled pop and rock genres, where vocals and instruments stood out. The bass was decent, too, though it wasn’t overwhelming.

But here’s the thing: the app is a game-changer. With the SoundPEATS app, I can tweak the EQ and even change sound modes. You get ten preset EQ options, and I adjusted the bass and treble to suit my taste. There’s also a customisable 8-band EQ for those who want to get specific with their sound.

The Dynamic EQ feature adjusts the audio based on the type of content I’m listening to. The sound changes to match whether I’m exercising or watching a movie. It’s subtle, but noticeable, and adds a level of customization I didn’t expect from budget earbuds.

Movie mode, gaming mode, and a little boost for everything

I also tried the Movie Mode and Gaming Mode, and both features impressed me. Movie Mode expands the soundstage, giving a more cinematic experience, while Gaming Mode drops the latency to just 80ms, making it perfect for gaming. I tested it with a few mobile games, and the sound synced perfectly with the action on screen. That kind of performance at this price point is hard to beat.

Solid call quality with wind-noise resistance

One of the things that surprised me most was how good the call quality was. I took a few calls while out walking, and even though it was a little breezy, my voice came through loud and clear. Thanks to the dual microphones with wind noise cancellation, I didn’t have to worry about background noise ruining the conversation. If you’re someone who needs to take calls on the go, these do the job well.

30 hours of battery life that keeps you going

Battery life is another area where the POP Clip shines. The earbuds themselves last up to 8 hours per charge, which is pretty solid. But with the charging case, you get a total of 30 hours—enough to get through several days of commutes, workouts, and movie nights without needing to plug them in.

The case has a USB-C port for fast charging, and while it doesn’t support wireless charging, it’s a small trade-off for the price. The quick-charge feature is also a nice touch—just 15 minutes in the case gives me an extra 3 hours of playback. Perfect for those times when I realize I’m running late and need a quick power boost.

Anything not so great with the POP Clip earbuds?

Well, a few small things:

  • The open-ear design means it won’t block outside noise, which is great for awareness but not ideal if you want to block out distractions.
  • There’s no wireless charging, and the case, while decent, is a bit plasticy (though it doesn’t attract fingerprints—small win).
  • Audiophiles who crave deep sub-bass might feel a bit underwhelmed until they tweak the EQ.

But none of these are dealbreakers, especially for the price.

Final thoughts on the SoundPEATS POP Clip wireless earbuds

After using the SoundPEATS POP Clip, I can say without hesitation that these earbuds punch well above their weight. They’re comfortable, offer great sound (especially once you tweak the EQ), and are packed with useful features like Movie and Gaming modes, impressive call quality, and 30 hours of battery life. The clip-on design might not be for everyone, but it’s a breath of fresh air for those who want something different.

For £32, the value is insane, especially when compared to something like the PearlClip Pro, which costs a little more and focuses heavily on bass. The POP Clip balances everything, making it more versatile for most people.
