Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will need Secure Boot active on your PC if you want to play.

Activision has announced that this feature is now mandatory, starting with Season 5 of Black Ops 6 today, and it will be carried over to BO7 when it launches later this year. Check out the official teaser below.

Secure Boot is a built-in Windows 10 and 11 tool that stops dodgy software from running when your system starts. It’s not a new idea; EA already uses it for Battlefield 6, but not every player has an easy time turning it on. Some PCs hide the setting deep in the BIOS.

You guys might be wondering why this change is happening. It’s all about addressing cheating. Activision says this move will help its RICOCHET anti-cheat tools work better by creating a cleaner space for them to run.

Alongside this, the devs say they’ve banned 22 more cheat-makers and are ramping up efforts to detect boosters and teamers in BO6 and Warzone Ranked.

If you need help with the setup, then there’s a guide on Activision’s site. If Secure Boot’s off, you won’t be playing.
