RuneScape celebrates the most successful year in its history

Jagex, a leading UK developer and publisher of Living Games, has today announced a strengthening of the studio with the hiring of industry-leading talent across all levels and disciplines. This latest growth builds upon the successes of 2019 which saw Jagex hire more than 100 new employees across development, publishing and operations at its growing Cambridge HQ. This includes senior leaders joining from EA, Blizzard, Activision, Ubisoft, Riot and more, adding vast games industry experience to the Jagex team. 2020 is poised to be yet another year of significant investment in recruiting, with new additions across all levels and disciplines.

David Bamberger has been appointed as the new Head of Product Marketing for RuneScape. David is a games industry veteran with nearly 25 years of experience in games marketing. Most recently he worked at Tencent America as Marketing Manager for PUBG Mobile. He has previously launched top brands including Final Fantasy VII, Twisted Metal, Prince of Persia, Hitman, and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Alongside DavidOuni Kwon has joined Jagex’s publishing powerhouse as Head of Product Marketing for Old School RuneScape. Prior to this, Ouni spent nine years at Wargaming, where he worked on World of Tanks, and was most recently Global Product Marketing Director for Total War: Arena.

Joeyray Hall has joined Jagex in the new role of Creative Services Director. Before joining Jagex, Joeyray spent more than 23 years at Blizzard Entertainment where he advanced from 3D Artist through to senior management roles, including Cinematics Senior Project Manager.

Mike Donatelli has joined as Product Director of Old School RuneScape. Mike has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, having begun his career at Mythic Entertainment. He holds a wealth of knowledge in online gaming having worked in senior roles on products such as Dark Age of CamelotWarhammer Online and Wildstar.

Stewart Stanbury joins as Director of Business Development. Throughout Stewart’s career he has worked with clients – including Adobe, Dell, Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar, King, and Wargaming – providing insight, strategy, research, marketing and player retention support. Stewart will be leading Jagex’s outreach to external studios while seeking investment, retail and licensing opportunities for Jagex’s corporate portfolio.

Anna Mostyn-Williams has joined Jagex as Director of Publishing Partnerships. She brings over a decade of experience working with world-leading brands such as Xbox, Quantic Dream and Discovery Communications as well as launching two successful technology start-ups. Anna will be leading on Jagex’s outreach and relationships with platform, distribution and marketing partners.

These new appointments come as Jagex announces a further all-time high for the RuneScape franchise. RuneScape and Old School RuneScape combined achieved their highest-ever membership peak in 2019, with more than 1.1million players taking advantage of subscription packages that delivers exclusive quests and content in an expanded game world.
