The ROG Xbox Ally X isn’t out until 16 October, but some lucky players in France have already got their hands on the handheld. Amazon France reportedly shipped the device two weeks ahead of schedule, and early reviews are now making the rounds online.
On Reddit, one user showed off their new device and shared first thoughts. They described it as “very light” and compared it to holding an Xbox controller with a screen. Those who have used a Steam Deck said the Ally X feels more natural in the hands.

Xbox Ally X’s performance and battery life are praised
Battery life was a highlight, with reports of over three hours of playtime in demanding games when running at 17W. Performance tests also sounded strong, hitting 35–40 fps at 900p or 1080p on medium to high settings at 25W. With FSR and frame generation enabled, users claimed the handheld could climb to 70–80 fps with ease.
Another French player confirmed they had received the system early, but later deleted their post.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Xbox Store sold out of the Ally X shortly after pre-orders opened. The new ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller also had its US pricing confirmed this week, adding more fuel to the hype.
