Xbox has confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will officially launch on October 16, 2025. The announcement came during the first day of Xbox’s Gamescom 2025 livestream.
Pre-orders aren’t live yet, but they are expected very soon. Earlier leaks from Billbil-kun revealed the release date and prices, which Best Buy has now listed. In the US, the ROG Xbox Ally is priced at $549.99 (£445 approx) and the Xbox Ally X at $899.99 (£730 approx). European prices were leaked last month but haven’t been officially confirmed by Xbox.
ROG Xbox Ally game access and compatibility
The ROG Xbox Ally will feature Microsoft’s Co-Pilot for Gaming and introduce a new performance tag system. Games tested at 30FPS will carry a “Should perform well on this device” tag, while 60FPS titles get a “Should perform great on this device” tag. Untested games will show “Performance check not available yet.”

Xbox also launched the Handheld Compatibility Program, aiming to test thousands of games for handheld readiness. This ensures players picking up an Ally will find a broad library of games ready to play.
