The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 has been officially announced, bringing several upgrades over the original handheld model. While pricing details are still unknown, the new features suggest that it may cost more than the first Flip, which was priced at around $160. The new model offers a significant performance boost thanks to two powerful processor options: the Snapdragon 865 and the Dimensity 1100.

Both are much faster than the Unisoc T618 found in the previous version, making gaming and overall performance much smoother. The Flip 2 also comes with 8 GB of RAM, which is double the amount of memory in the first model.
Another big improvement is the display. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 now features a 5.5-inch OLED screen with a 1080p resolution. It also gets much brighter, with a peak brightness of 500 nits, making it easier to use in different lighting conditions. The device keeps some of the familiar features from the original model, like the 5,000 mAh battery, but there are some changes in charging speeds. The Snapdragon 865 variant supports 27W fast charging, while the Dimensity 1100 version is limited to 18W.
Some ports have been updated as well. The Flip 2 removes the microHDMI port and replaces it with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort output, allowing users to connect it to external displays. However, the device still includes a microSD card slot for expandable storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity has also improved, with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Storage has been upgraded to UFS 3.1, which is significantly faster than before.

Retroid Pocket Flip 2 availability
With a more powerful processor, better screen, improved wireless features, and faster storage, the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is a major step up from its predecessor. Although the price is yet to be confirmed, the added features indicate that it could be a bit more expensive. Fans will have to wait for more details on availability and pricing.
