Capcom has shared fresh details on Resident Evil Requiem following its big reveal at The Game Awards 2025. Director Akifumi Nakanishi says the game is designed to feel like two very different experiences rolled into one.

Leon vs Grace: Two Sides of Resident Evil Requiem

In a recent interview, Nakanishi confirmed that Leon Kennedy and newcomer Grace split the game almost evenly. Their sections, however, play nothing alike. He compares the structure to Resident Evil Revelations, but with a sharper contrast in tone.

Leon’s chapters lean into action. Nakanishi admits Leon is no longer “well suited to horror,” so his sections focus on fast, adrenaline-heavy combat. These are the moments where players feel more in control and relatively safe.

Grace is where the fear lives. Her chapters are slower, darker, and far more unsettling. The team is pushing horror harder here, making her return feel genuinely uncomfortable after Leon’s action-heavy runs.

Nakanishi describes Resident Evil Requiem as “almost like having two games” with different types of tension. He even jokes it feels like jumping into a cold bath after a hot sauna.

It’s a deliberate horror structure. One that aims to keep players on edge from start to finish.
