Capcom has released a new developer diary for Resident Evil Requiem. It’s short, focused, and packed with key updates.
Resident Evil Requiem adds fear at the core of its gameplay
Director Koshi Nakanishi, art director Tomonori Takano, and producers Masachika Kawata and Masato Kumazawa explain their vision. They say the game is built around “addictive fear.” It’s about raw horror. Every moment is designed to keep players tense.

They’ve introduced a new main character, Grace Ashcroft. She’s not a fighter by nature. She’s an FBI analyst. Introverted. Often scared. But trained. She knows how to handle pressure. The horror will unfold from her perspective.

The team worked hard to make her feel real. Tiny details like the redness of her face when she’s upside down. Or how her hair moves. They even used a real wig to get it right.
Players can switch between first and third-person views. First-person is intense. Third-person offers more control. Both are available anytime.
The story happens 30 years after Raccoon City was destroyed. It reflects on what the outbreak meant. It’s a tribute to the lives lost and those forever changed.

The game launches just before the series hits 30 years. Capcom calls it a “requiem” for the past.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on 27 February 2026 for PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam.
