Tarsier Studios, the team behind Little Nightmares, is back with a new nightmare. REANIMAL, their upcoming cooperative horror adventure game, will launch in Q1 2026. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, as announced by THQ Nordic.

This is a slight delay from the original 2025 release target. The game was first revealed at Gamescom 2024.

A dark tale of siblings, survival, and monsters

In REANIMAL, you play as a brother and sister stranded on a cursed island. Their mission is to find their missing friends and escape. You’ll explore haunted shores, broken towns, and eerie ruins by boat and on foot.

The game’s co-op design is key. You can play solo, locally with a friend, or team up online. A shared, guided camera keeps the tension high, forcing you to work together in tight, claustrophobic spaces.

Tarsier’s signature style is back. Expect grotesque monsters and child characters shaped by their tragic pasts. Every new location adds to the fragmented story, with hidden secrets and twisted horrors lurking in the shadows.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. REANIMAL is “horror with hope,” focusing on the bond between the two orphans and their desperate search for redemption.
