PlayStation has confirmed that its network services are now fully working again after a recent issue. As a way to say sorry, all PlayStation Plus members will get five extra days added to their subscription for free. This is a fair deal, as the outage lasted for more than 20 hours.

The PlayStation support team shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All Play-Station Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.”
The outage happened on Friday and was very frustrating for many players. It was especially bad timing for those wanting to try the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta on PS5, as they lost almost an entire day. While CAPCOM has not confirmed an extension for this phase of the beta, they are thinking about adding an extra 24 hours at a later time.

Even though this outage was annoying, it was nothing compared to the major PlayStation Network hack in 2011. Back then, the service was down for over 20 days, and personal user data was stolen. To make up for it, PlayStation gave users one free month of PlayStation Plus, a free month of subscription extension, and two free games from a small selection, which included titles like inFAMOUS.
This time, PlayStation is handling things much faster, and the five-day extension is a nice bonus for PlayStation Plus members.
