The beloved music of Old School RuneScape has been given a fresh, modern twist with the release of Old School Runebreaks, a Drum n Bass album crafted by renowned London producer, Pizza Hotline. Known for his video game-flavoured Drum n Bass and Jungle beats that evoke a nostalgic vibe, Pizza Hotline has reimagined classic RuneScape tracks, blending them with the energetic rhythms of DnB.

A vinyl treasure for RuneScape enthusiasts

Fans can now pre-order a Limited Edition double vinyl set through the Laced Records store and the Official RuneScape Merch Store. The set includes 11 expertly remixed tracks pressed on blue galaxy-effect heavyweight discs, all packaged within a stunning deluxe gatefold sleeve. The artwork for this collector’s item has been designed by Jagex collaborator Matthew Leiher, also known as Uber. In addition to the vinyl, purchasers from Laced Records will receive a digital download of the album in 320kbps MP3 format.

Drum n Bass with a nostalgic twist

Old School Runebreaks features a mix of traditional and innovative Drum n Bass styles. Tracks like “Garden” maintain a more conventional DnB vibe, while the fan-favourite “Sea Shanty 2” has been transformed into a minimal DnB banger. “Autumn Voyage” slows things down with a breaks remix, and “Shine” channels the atmospheric tones of Aphex Twin. Pizza Hotline has even woven familiar sound effects from the game into tracks like “Background,” which features the classic ‘Urgh!’ death sound before the drop.

Staying true to the classic era of Drum n Bass, Pizza Hotline employed a Roland JV-1080 among other software and hardware, with several tracks featuring reverb based on the PlayStation 1’s original built-in effects.
