KOEI TECMO Europe and Team NINJA have officially announced Nioh 3, the next chapter in the brutal action RPG series, set to launch in early 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
To mark the reveal, a free limited-time alpha demo is live now exclusively on PS5, giving players a first look at the game’s intense new combat systems and open-field design. The demo runs until 18th June 2025, and players who complete it will unlock an exclusive helmet in the full game at launch.

Set during Japan’s war-torn Sengoku era, Nioh 3 casts players as a rising warrior on the path to becoming Shogun. The game expands the familiar dark fantasy formula with a more open structure, letting players explore cursed villages, twisted forests, and hostile yokai-infested terrain. At the centre of the action are two distinct combat styles—Samurai and Ninja—that offer dramatically different approaches to battle.
The Samurai style will feel familiar to series veterans, but adds new features like Arts Proficiency, enhancing martial power, and Deflect, a last-second parry mechanic. Meanwhile, the Ninja style introduces high-mobility tactics, aerial dodging, and flashy Ninjutsu moves like Mist and Evade, perfect for delivering rapid strikes and evasive flurries.
Players can seamlessly switch between these styles mid-battle, adapting their tactics on the fly based on the enemy or environment.
The alpha demo includes a look at character creation, early game systems, and open-field exploration. Feedback is encouraged via a survey available through the game’s official website, giving fans a chance to help shape development ahead of launch.
Nioh 3 will feature both Japanese and English voiceovers and support multiple languages at launch, including French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
With its fusion of tactical swordplay, new agility-focused mechanics, and a haunting world to conquer, Nioh 3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting hardcore RPGs of 2026.
