People Can Fly has announced Lost Rift, a first-person survival shooter set in a mysterious archipelago. It’s coming to PC via Steam in Early Access sometime in 2025, blending survival, base-building, and high-risk PvPvE combat.
A fight for survival in an unpredictable world
In Lost Rift, you start stranded on Pioneer’s Landing, one of many islands in the game’s world. The first challenge? Staying alive. You’ll gather resources, build a camp, and craft gear to prepare for what’s next. The island is your safe zone—until you decide to leave.
Venturing into PvPvE zones means risking everything. These unstable areas are filled with dangerous AI enemies, but the real threat comes from other players hunting for the same high-value loot. Whether you survive depends on your skill, strategy, and a bit of luck.

Lost Rift features
- Base-building with complete freedom – Construct your shelter anywhere using modular building tools. Set up crafting and cooking stations to keep yourself ready for whatever comes next.
- High-stakes PvPvE expeditions – Enter contested zones where AI enemies and real players fight for limited resources. If you make it out alive, the rewards are worth it.
- Unpredictable weather hazards – Hurricanes, fires, and dense fog aren’t just visual effects—they can wipe out your base, block your vision, or force you to rethink your route.
- Smooth multiplayer experience – Dedicated, geo-located servers aim to keep both PvE and PvPvE gameplay stable.

AI in game development
The devs have also confirmed that Lost Rift uses generative AI, specifically for in-game icons.
With Lost Rift, People Can Fly is stepping into the survival-extraction genre with a mix of freedom, danger, and high-stakes encounters. Early Access is still a while away, but this one’s shaping up to be worth keeping an eye on.
