Lords of the Fallen just got its biggest update yet. CI Games and Hexworks have launched version 2.0, calling it the “definitive edition” of the dark fantasy action RPG. It’s more than just fixes—it’s a full-on transformation.

Here’s what’s new in version 2.0:

The highlight is shared-progression cross-play co-op. Now, both players in a co-op session keep all story progress, loot, and 100% of their Vigor, as long as they’re on the same New Game cycle and have taken down a similar number of bosses. You can also revive each other during any online session, making the game far more forgiving for co-op runs.

Don’t own the Lords of the Fallen game? No problem. A free Friend’s Pass lets you join someone else’s adventure even without buying the game. You’ll still get to keep your loot and character progress, and even access the tutorial and character creator offline.

Combat feels tighter across the board. There’s smoother movement, better weapon feedback, refined lock-on, and improved dodges. Grievous strike prompts are clearer now, and a dedicated jump button makes platforming feel more precise.

The devs also went all-in on sound and visuals. The full weapon audio overhaul gives real impact to every swing and block. The character creator has been rebuilt with better facial detail and more body options, while the UI is now cleaner with optional HUD settings.

Other quality-of-life upgrades include:

  • A reworked tutorial with clearer instructions and a new in-game guidebook
  • The Umbral Lamp now points you to your next vestige, making it easier to navigate the world

Lords of the Fallen Version 2.0 follows over 50 post-launch updates and marks a fresh start for Lords of the Fallen. If you’ve been holding off, now’s a good time to jump in.

The game’s out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
