The upcoming medieval shooter-strategy mashup Kingmakers is officially heading to Early Access on 8 October 2025, landing on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Developed by Redemption Road Games and published by tinyBuild, the game blends historical warfare with modern-day weapons in a way that’s anything but ordinary.
Modern firepower meets medieval chaos
In Kingmakers, you travel 500 years into the past to stop a brutal war and prevent the end of the world. But you’re not limited to swords and shields—you’ll enter battle with assault rifles, grenade launchers, armoured vehicles, and even helicopters. The idea is simple but wild: reshape history using the tools of the future.
Every battle features thousands of soldiers fighting in real time, powered by advanced AI. Each soldier reacts to the battlefield dynamically, making every encounter unpredictable. Thanks to a procedural animation system, character movement and combat flow feel surprisingly lifelike.
Lead solo or with friends
You can play alone or team up with up to three players in online co-op. Each person controls their army, and together you’ll launch sieges, hold defences, and build fortifications. The game lets you switch between first-hand combat and top-down strategy, giving you full control over the battlefield.
Whether you’re setting up formations of archers or calling in an airstrike, Kingmakers lets you command your army your way.

The game will be available in Early Access for PC starting October 8, with continued development based on player feedback. New features, balance tweaks, and expanded content are all planned for future updates.
