Tlon Industries has revealed Kentum, a new 2D “craftervania” adventure game. Set in the distant future of the year 10,000, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2025.
Here’s what we know about Kentum so far:
The story
After an unusually long nap lasting thousands of years, the main character, Kent, wakes up to find himself in the far future. Equipped with only a stick and a sarcastic robot companion, he must explore a strange new world. His goal? To fix his broken space module, turn it into a self-sufficient base, and maybe even restart civilisation—if he can find the time.
Key features
- Explore, scan, and catalogue
Players will explore a massive, ever-changing world filled with odd creatures, unique plants, and unpredictable weather. To survive, Kent must study and record everything he encounters. Knowledge is his greatest ally—but don’t expect it to help against hungry animals. - Craft to the limit
Start with the basics like turning bone into coal or scraps into metal. Slowly build a high-tech base that produces its own resources, growing into a giant machine that rivals a factory. - Survive or be cloned
Death might not be the end, but it’s still annoying. Kent can be revived endlessly, but avoiding death is better. Players must hunt, gather food, and improve their cooking skills. Farming and raising animals can also help ensure a steady food supply.
