Three SNES classics, one prehistoric revival, and a whole heap of caveman chaos.

Red Art Games is reviving a stone-cold classic. Officially revealed during a showcase in Paris, the Joe & Mac Retro Collection is launching on Kickstarter from June 10, bringing with it three legendary SNES-era games and a host of new enhancements for modern platforms.

Developed by Red Art Studios, the internal team at Red Art Games, this new collection features Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Congo’s Caper, and Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics. And for the first time ever in the West, players will also be able to experience the uncensored Japanese versions of each game, known in Japan as the Tatakae Genshijin series.

Set to release digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the collection gives fans a faithful yet enhanced trip down memory lane, with plenty of new reasons to dive back in.

What’s in the Joe & Mac Retro Collection?

At its core, this is a celebration of prehistoric platforming. Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja delivers co-op action through 12 wild stages, while Congo’s Caper shifts the focus to side-scrolling adventures with a demonic twist. Then there’s Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics, which adds light RPG elements like romance, marriage, and even kids. Yes, really.

Beyond just bundling these titles together, Red Art Studios have added modern features to make the experience smoother and more accessible:

  • Both Western & uncensored Japanese versions included
  • Save states for safer progress
  • Rewind feature to undo your mistakes
  • CRT filter for those retro vibes
  • Custom aspect ratios and screen options
  • Local co-op for Joe & Mac 1 & 2

Kickstarter exclusives

To celebrate the launch, Red Art Games is offering special rewards for Kickstarter backers, including digital bonuses, exclusive physical copies, and a range of collectables that won’t be available anywhere else. Whether you’re a hardcore fan or new to the series, there’s a tier to suit your taste.
