Roguelike deckbuilder Into the Restless Ruins is set to launch this spring for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC, as announced by Wales Interactive and Ant Workshop. If you’re eager to dive in early, a demo is available now on Steam as part of February’s Next Fest.

Ant Workshop’s managing director, Tony Gowland, describes the game as a fresh blend of deckbuilding and dungeon creation, letting players construct their own labyrinth. David Banner of Wales Interactive shares the excitement, highlighting Ant Workshop’s creative vision and storytelling.

A dungeon built by your deck

Inspired by Scottish folklore, Into the Restless Ruins follows a legend of the Harvest Maiden, a mystical figure who grants wishes in exchange for toil. You’ve spent years chasing rumours and finally found the ruins—now it’s time to build your way through them.

In Into the Restless Ruins using a deck of cards, you’ll shape the dungeon with rooms, corridors, and special features, then battle through its cursed inhabitants to harvest Glimour before your torchlight fades. Along the way, you’ll earn favours from the Harvest Maiden, uncover relics, and trade with folklore-inspired characters like the Hen Wife and Wulver to upgrade your deck.

Into the Restless Ruins key features

  • Deck-driven dungeon building – Shape the ruins using a variety of rooms and corridors. Earn new cards from the Maiden and tweak your deck with discoveries inside the ruins.
  • Strategic room synergies – Every room matters. Place campfires, armouries, portals, and other features carefully to boost your chances.
  • Endless replayability – No two runs are the same. Each layout presents new challenges, rewards, and shortcuts. Face The Warden once, and the game shifts with new modifiers, level designs, and unlockable cards.
  • A world of folklore – Encounter creatures and legends drawn from Scottish mythology as you uncover the mysteries of the ruins.

Into the Restless Ruins - Map

With its unique mix of deckbuilding, auto-battling, and dungeon creation, Into the Restless Ruins looks set to carve its own path in the genre. The demo is out now on PC, so if you’re curious, it’s time to step into the ruins and test your fate.
