Hollow Knight is officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Team Cherry has confirmed a dedicated version of the beloved Metroidvania, bringing the dark world of Hallownest to Nintendo’s next console in 2026.

First released in 2017, Hollow Knight began life as a Kickstarter project. It quickly grew into one of the most respected indie games of the decade. Players take control of the silent Knight, fighting tough bosses and exploring a haunting underground kingdom. Its sharp difficulty and striking art style helped it stand out, and it remains a fan favourite years later.

While no exact release date was shared, the studio confirmed a 2026 launch window. Screenshots of the upgraded version were also shared alongside the announcement.

There is good news for existing players, too. Anyone who already owns Hollow Knight on Nintendo Switch will get a free upgrade to the Switch 2 edition. A separate update with new features and fixes will also roll out on current consoles around the same time.
