Ubisoft and Unfrozen are bringing back the legendary turn-based strategy series with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, set to launch in Early Access for PC via Steam this summer. A cinematic story trailer is now live, offering a first look at the game’s new continent, Jadame, and the rising danger of the Hive—an insectoid faction corrupted by an Inferno demon lord.

Set in the long-mentioned but never-explored world of Jadame, Olden Era combines classic mechanics with fresh features. You’ll manage castles, raise armies, and engage in strategic hex-based battles filled with mythical creatures and powerful heroes.

The Early Access version will feature a large chunk of the single-player campaign, core systems, and three multiplayer modes:

  • Classic – standard castle building and exploration
  • One-Hero Mode – high-stakes play with only one hero
  • Arena – fast-paced, draft-based combat

Players can also create and share custom maps using the in-game editor.

There are six factions in total, with five already revealed:
Temple (classic humans), Necropolis (undead), Sylvan (nature and fey), Dungeon (dark elves), and Hive (demonic insectoids). Each has unique units, heroes, and playstyles. The sixth faction will be revealed later.

Combat features active abilities, a refined hex grid system, and updated AI with multiple difficulty levels. Leaderboards, matchmaking, and a polished UI aim to bring the series up to modern standards without losing its roots.
