The wait is over—Heart of the Machine has officially entered Early Access on Steam, and it’s already shaping up to be something special. This isn’t just another strategy game; it’s a genre-blending, time-warping, choice-driven experience where you take control of an AI in a human city, shaping history itself.

Game bio

At its core, Heart of the Machine is a tactical strategy game with heavy narrative elements, but it refuses to be pinned down to just one genre. With time travel mechanics that let you send information (and even units) back and forth through time, the game offers a level of freedom rarely seen in strategy titles.

The Early Access launch of Heart of the Machine includes a huge amount of content—around 15 to 20 hours just to reach chapter three, where the full time-travel mechanics kick in. Chapter two alone features 12 different main goal-states, two side goals, and multiple branching paths. And if you’re up for a challenge, Hard Mode and Extreme Mode offer even tougher strategic decisions.

More content is on the way

While the game is already packed with depth, the developers have big plans for updates. The Early Access roadmap includes more story paths, additional choices, and new ways to approach the game’s world. Importantly, these updates won’t rewrite what’s already there—so if you start playing now, you won’t have to worry about your choices being invalidated later.
