Greedfall 2: The Dying World is in trouble. The early access launch didn’t go well. Now Spiders has laid off most of its animation and rigging staff.

Lead animator Erwan Perrin confirmed the cuts on LinkedIn. He said a layoff plan was in place, and the animation team was hit the hardest. He’s asking studios in Paris to hire those affected.

The game didn’t land. It peaked at just 375 players on Steam. This week, daily peaks dropped to 10.

Reviews are bad. The total rating is 55%. Recent ones are even worse, down to 40%.

The combat system is the main issue. Spiders changed it from real-time action to tab-targeting. It now plays more like Dragon Age: Origins or an old MMO. Most fans don’t like it.

Greedfall 2’s combat system made it crash

Spiders tried to improve things. Animations and sound effects got tweaks. But the combat still feels stiff and outdated.

It’s disappointing. The first Greedfall was solid. It had style, good combat, and a fresh setting. Players expected more from Greedfall 2.

Instead, it feels like a step back. And now the dev team is shrinking fast.
