The fast-paced first-person shooter Gravelord is set to launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on 22 January, as announced by Fatbot Games. For eager players, a free demo is already available to try out.

Gravelord – Game bio

Gravelord is a retro-inspired “boomer shooter” that blends classic fast-paced gameplay with modern features. Players take on hordes of enemies across handcrafted levels filled with secrets, puzzles, and explosive combat. The game’s sassy protagonist, Queedo the Gravedigger, delivers witty one-liners as he battles through levels using a unique Spectral Shovel and an array of powerful weapons.

Proven boomer shooter formula

Gravelord draws heavy inspiration from classics like Doom and Quake, focusing on fun, action-packed gameplay rather than realism. Players can expect to:

  • Run, jump, and shoot through exciting levels.
  • Defeat enemies with explosive weapons.
  • Uncover hidden areas and solve level-based challenges.

Unique features and tools

What makes Gravelord stand out are its creative mechanics:

  • Spectral Shovel: Teleport across gaps, dodge enemies, and create shortcuts.
  • Tarot Cards: Collect these to gain unique powers and combat boosts, but choose carefully as only a few can be equipped at once.
  • Weapon upgrades: Unlock alternate fire modes for stronger attacks and discover powerful synergies.
  • Level editor: Players will be able to create and share custom levels with a user-friendly tool (available after the game’s full release).

Launch details

Fans of retro FPS games have much to look forward to in Gravelord. With its nostalgic gameplay, modern twists, and customisation options, the game promises to deliver hours of chaotic fun.

Mark your calendars for January 22nd.
