The God of War TV series is already under pressure, and it has only shown one image.
Last week, Amazon shared the first official still from its live-action take on God of War. The shot features Kratos and Atreus, played by Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson, recreating an early moment from the 2018 game. Normally, a single image would not mean much. This time, it did.
Fans quickly picked it apart. Some questioned the tone. Others even suggested parts of it looked AI-made. But the loudest reaction came from series creator David Jaffe.
Jaffe called the image “so bad in so many ways.” At the same time, he made it clear he respects showrunner Ron Moore and believes the final series could still turn out well. His issue was simple: if you put something online, people will judge it.

The wider God of War TV series debate now centres on marketing. Jaffe argued that if a studio does not want harsh feedback, it should not release an image that looks unfinished or unclear.
It is early days. One still does not define a whole show. But first impressions matter, and right now, the God of War TV series has work to do.
