Ghost of Yōtei has stormed to the top of the UK’s weekly physical sales charts, beating EA Sports FC 26 in its second week on shelves. That’s a massive win for Sucker Punch Productions, especially in a football-mad country where EA’s sports juggernaut usually dominates. If you haven’t played it yet then check out its deep dive gameplay first.
Ghost of Yotei gameplay deep dive
The news comes from former GamesIndustry.biz editor-in-chief Chris Dring, who revealed that while Yōtei took first place, its physical launch sales were down around 40% compared to Ghost of Tsushima. But that figure isn’t as grim as it sounds.

When Tsushima released back in 2020, the world was deep in lockdown, everyone was at home gaming, and the PlayStation 4 had an install base roughly 20 million units larger than today’s PS5 numbers. Add to that the growing shift toward digital purchases, and it’s clear that physical sales alone no longer paint the full picture.
Sucker Punch hasn’t confirmed any DLC yet, but history suggests we might get something later down the line, just like Tsushima’s Iki Island expansion, which arrived months after launch. The studio has, however, confirmed that the Legends co-op mode will return in 2026, and a PC version seems almost inevitable. Don’t be surprised if both drop together with full cross-play support.

For now, Ghost of Yōtei stands tall at number one, a strong start for one of PlayStation’s biggest exclusives this year.
