Gears of War: E-Day brings The Coalition and People Can Fly together

People Can Fly, the studio behind Gears of War: Judgment and a key partner in the original Gears of War trilogy, is teaming up with The Coalition for the next instalment in the franchise, Gears of War: E-Day.

The game takes players back 14 years before the events of the original series, following Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago as they face the horrifying Locust Horde, an unstoppable force rising from underground to destroy humanity.

“Returning to this legendary saga is a privilege,” said Sebastian Wojciehowski, CEO of People Can Fly. “We’re building on the action and storytelling fans love, and we’re grateful for our partners’ trust in us.”

Mike Crump, studio head at The Coalition, added, “Gears of War: E-Day isn’t just another game. It’s about capturing what makes Gears special. Partnering with People Can Fly, a studio so connected to the series’ legacy, is exciting.”

The game is being built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5, promising stunning visuals and a modern take on the series’ signature gritty atmosphere. While the release date is yet to be announced, E-Day will launch on Xbox and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Fans can expect the intense combat and mature themes the series is known for, including violence and gore. Guillaume Barry, development director at People Can Fly, shared, “Our team of Gears fans is giving it everything to deliver an experience that exceeds expectations. We can’t wait to show you more.”
