Shiro Unlimited and Barotrauma devs FakeFish are teaming up for Frostrail, a co-op open-world survival FPS set in a cursed, ice-covered world. It’s coming to Steam Early Access in 2026.

In Frostrail, you can play solo or with friends as one of the Penitent Gardeners, a grim order riding an upgradable steam-powered train across a frozen, corrupted wasteland. You’ll scavenge, fight, and build to survive. But in this world, heat is your lifeline, and the cold isn’t just weather, it’s a predator.
The train’s not just transport. It’s your home, workshop, armor, and last shot at staying alive. The Eden Engine must be fuelled and maintained while you reinforce carriages, build crafting stations, and install defences. Every stop is a risk, every upgrade a necessity.
The world itself? Brutal. Blizzards blind you, ruins hide eldritch horrors, and the further you go from your train, the higher the stakes. There’s loot, yes-gear, supplies, maybe even hope. But there’s also death in the snow and silence that watches back.
Whether you go alone or in co-op, you’ll face corrupted revenants, dive into lost bunkers, and carve your path through a dying world. Every choice counts. Fortify your train. Ration your warmth. Survive—if you can.
