Fallout: New Vegas is getting a full RTX Remix mod. It adds path tracing and sharper textures. Even in early form, it changes the feel of the game.

The mod is by skurtyyskirts. A first look shows huge improvements in indoor areas. Lighting now reacts naturally. Shadows move. Surfaces reflect light. Vaults and tight rooms feel more alive.

Textures are also upgraded. Walls, floors, and objects look sharper. The new textures work better with the path-traced lighting. It’s a clear step up from the original.

Outdoors, the results are mixed. Path tracing makes the sunlight too shiny and harsh. The desert doesn’t look quite right yet. But it’s early, and lighting balance takes time to get right.

Fallout: New Vegas is still one of the most loved RPGs. It came out 15 years ago but never lost its fanbase. Many still call it the best Fallout game.

There’s still no New Vegas 2, even though Microsoft now owns both Obsidian and Bethesda. Rumours pop up now and then, but nothing real has happened in years.

This RTX mod might be the best way to return to New Vegas. And if the dev keeps going, it could become the ultimate version.
