Fairphone has launched the new Fairbuds XL, which represents a major step forward for people who want long-lasting, planet-friendly headphones. The company again focuses on simple repair, strong build quality, and fair materials, but now with better sound and better comfort for daily use.

The new Fairbuds XL come with upgraded 40 mm drivers that give richer sound and more detail in every song. Music feels more natural, and voices sound clearer. Fairphone has also improved the design with softer ear cushions and a new breathable headband, making the headphones more comfortable during long listening sessions. The two new colours, Forest Green and Horizon Black, match the cleaner and more modern look.

Battery life stays strong at up to 30 hours, and the headphones still offer aptX HD audio, Bluetooth, and easy device switching, which makes daily use simple and smooth. People who work across a phone and a laptop will find it very helpful.

What makes these headphones stand out is their modular build. The design includes nine parts that can be replaced at home, such as the battery, ear cushions, and even the headband. This means you do not need to throw away the whole product if one part stops working. Fairphone also offers a new upgrade kit for current Fairbuds XL users. They can install the new drivers and cushions in a few minutes, giving the same improved sound without buying a new pair.

The new Fairbuds XL are also built with more than 50% recycled and fair materials by weight. The drivers use 100% recycled rare earth magnets, and the plastic and aluminium parts also come from responsible sources. The headphones are made in a factory that uses solar energy, and Fairphone continues its programme to support fair wages for workers.

Fairbuds XL availability

These small but important steps show why Fairphone is known for responsible tech. The new Fairbuds XL prove that good sound, comfort, and long life can work together without harming the planet. They will be available in Europe on Amazon from 9 December 2025 and later in the US before the end of the month.
