Evil Dead: The Game removed from stores but servers remain online for now

Saber Interactive has officially pulled Evil Dead: The Game from all digital storefronts, marking the end of its availability for new players. If you already own the game, you’re safe for now. The servers are still up and running, so you can keep playing with your friends. But with no offline mode and no plans for future updates, the clock might be ticking.

The delisting started quietly. Players first noticed Evil Dead: The Game disappearing from the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store earlier this week. That sparked a bit of confusion, but the writing was on the wall. Now, it’s gone from Steam and Xbox, too, and Saber has confirmed the removal directly.

“We can confirm we’ve begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts,” Saber Interactive wrote on Steam before it vanished.

But there’s a bit of good news for existing fans:

“Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online,” Saber added. “We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community… We appreciate all of your support.”

That’s reassuring, but let’s be real—it’s probably not going to stay that way forever.

Evil Dead will have no new content, no Switch version, and no offline mode

This news doesn’t come out of nowhere. Boss Team Games, the studio behind Evil Dead: The Game, stopped making new content back in 2023. That included scrapping a planned Nintendo Switch version and any future updates. At that point, it felt like the endgame had already started.

Now with the game delisted from every major store and no offline mode available, it’s following the all-too-familiar pattern of multiplayer-only titles that slowly fade away once support ends. Once the servers go, that could be it—unless something changes.

It’s disappointing to see a solid asymmetric horror game go out like this, especially one that gave Evil Dead fans something fun, chaotic, and true to the series’ spirit. If there’s any hope left, it’s that an offline mode could eventually arrive so existing players can keep enjoying the game without relying on servers.

If you’ve already got it in your library, make the most of it while you still can. And if you were thinking about picking it up—unless you find a physical copy or code somewhere, that ship has officially sailed.
