ELECOM recently introduced the VK720AL, a new gaming keyboard launched on November 1. This keyboard is a low-profile version of their VK720A model, released earlier this year, and has a similar design.
The ELECOM VK720AL keyboard follows a “Japanese 75%” layout, which makes it more compact. It comes in two colors: black and white. The keyboard has an RGB backlight that can show 8-bit color, allowing players to adjust the lighting as they like. It connects only through a wired cable and has a high-speed polling rate of 1000Hz, meaning it can handle quick reactions. The keyboard weighs around 651 grams.
One standout feature of this keyboard is its special magnetic key switch, which is called a “dwarf BOX-type” switch. This switch has a trigger sensitivity that can be adjusted between 0.1mm to 2.3mm with small 0.1mm adjustments. The initial force needed to press a key is 30 grams, and a stronger 50-gram force is needed to press it all the way down. The keyboard also supports dual-point triggering, which can make gaming inputs faster.
In addition to its adjustable switches, the ELECOM VK720AL offers two ways to set up the spacebar. Users can either use a single long spacebar or a setup with a shorter spacebar and a custom key to the left, depending on their preference.
The keyboard comes with durable Neo Clutch two-color injection PBT keycaps. These keycaps have a special shape designed to fit gaming needs. The slight arc on top makes it easy for players’ fingers to lift off, and the keys around the WASD keys are angled to make them more comfortable for gaming.
The ELECOM VK720AL is currently priced at $210 including tax.
