Echoes of the End is officially launching this summer on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam, and after months of silence, we’ve finally got our first look at it in motion. Developed by Myrkur Games and published by Deep Silver, this is a cinematic, third-person action adventure game that’s all about magic, sword fights, emotional storytelling, and a world that feels like it’s been cracked open by time itself.

A fantasy world shaped by the past

You play as Ryn, a powerful warrior-mage known as a vestige. Her journey begins with one simple goal: to save her brother from a totalitarian empire. But what follows is anything but straightforward. Teaming up with Abram, a scholar with a heavy past, Ryn finds herself tangled in a growing conspiracy that threatens to drag the world of Aema back into chaos.

Echoes of the End is mature, the world is richly built, and the story aims to do more than just give you quests; it wants you to care about the people and the cost of the choices you make. It’s a game rooted in emotion, consequence, and history.

Echoes of the End

Combat that flows and challenges that evolve

Ryn’s skillset blends swordplay with a growing range of magical powers. As you progress, she unlocks the ability to manipulate gravity, destroy obstacles, and cast illusions, each one giving you new ways to handle enemies or approach exploration. The combat looks responsive and fluid, with an emphasis on timing, creativity, and tactical movement.

You’re not alone in Echoes of the End. Abram fights beside you, and certain parts of the game use both characters together to solve puzzles or access hidden areas. The duo dynamic also shows up in traversal, with combined moves and moments that lean on trust and coordination.

Every chapter introduces new challenges. Expect environmental puzzles, movement mechanics like double-jumping and dashing, and set pieces that shift how you interact with the world.

A grounded fantasy that looks stunning

Visually, Echoes of the End is aiming high. The environments pull heavily from Icelandic landscapes, icy peaks, scorched lava plains, and misty highlands and they’re all rendered with a cinematic style that mixes realism with fantasy.

Character animations are motion-captured, cutscenes feel natural, and the attention to detail in the world-building is meant to keep you immersed. It’s not over-the-top fantasy, but a believable one, where the magic feels earned, and the emotions behind each decision feel honest.

With so many fantasy games focusing on power fantasies, Echoes of the End looks like it’s trying something a bit different. It still has the action, the magic, and the big set pieces, but it wraps all of that in a story that wants to be personal. If it lands, it could offer one of the more memorable single-player journeys of the year.

Echoes of the End- Ryn and Abram

You can expect Echoes of the End to arrive sometime this summer. It’ll be available on PS5, Xbox, and Steam, so there’s plenty of time to wishlist it and keep an eye on updates from Deep Silver and Myrkur Games.
