Dune: Awakening, the open-world survival MMO from Funcom, officially launches for PC via Steam on May 20, priced at $49.99. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will follow later.
Game bio
This is Dune like you’ve never seen before. It’s a massive, persistent multiplayer world where survival is just the beginning. The game blends survival mechanics, open-world exploration, and large-scale player-driven politics, all wrapped in an original story that reimagines Dune’s universe.
The setup? The Fremen are missing, Paul Atreides was never born, and Duke Leto Atreides is locked in a brutal war with the Harkonnen. You start as a prisoner on Arrakis, tasked with uncovering the Fremen’s disappearance while carving out your own destiny—whether that means siding with House Atreides, House Harkonnen, or forging your own path.

Dune: Awakening key features
- Survive Arrakis – Manage water, craft stillsuits, and shelter from deadly sandstorms. And yes, the sandworms are a constant threat.
- Explore a shifting world – Arrakis’ landscape isn’t static. Coriolis storms reshape the desert, revealing new dangers and rewards every week.
- Master desert power – Use ranged and melee combat, ride ornithopters, and tap into the skills of the Bene Gesserit, Mentats, and Swordmasters.
- Control the spice – Harvest spice to gain power, influence politics, and even summon the legendary Shai-Hulud.
- Build your empire – Construct anything from small outposts to fortresses and trade your blueprints with other players.
- Multiplayer on a grand scale – Play solo or alongside hundreds of others. Join a faction, lead a guild, and compete for dominance in the Landsraad. PvP is optional, so you can focus on crafting, trading, or engaging in political intrigue.

Dune: Awakening is shaping up to be an ambitious survival MMO that captures the depth and intrigue of the Dune universe.
