Bleed. Bludgeon. Repeat. Dragon is Dead 1.0 unleashes a brutal new chapter on PC

The dragon may be dead, but the real battle is just beginning.

PM Studios and TeamSuneat have officially released version 1.0 of Dragon is Dead™, the savage 2D hack-and-slash roguelite that’s carved out a cult following during Early Access. Now fully launched on PC via Steam, this pixel-perfect bloodbath arrives with a wave of new content — including a feral new hero, devastating Mythic-tier gear, and a brutal final region.

At its core, Dragon is Dead has always been about trial, failure, and frantic experimentation. Every death is fuel for a stronger comeback. With this 1.0 update, that roguelite rhythm is pushed to new heights.

What’s new in Dragon is Dead 1.0?

  • Final Region & Boss Battle: Players will descend into the game’s last, most lethal area, unlocking the final secrets behind Guernian’s corruption and confronting the Circle of the Dawn.
  • Hunter of the Beast: A wild new playable character joins the roster, bringing aggressive new skills and a relentless playstyle to the battlefield.
  • Mythic Gear Tier: In addition to tons of new Legendary loot, players can now find Mythic-tier gear – the most powerful items yet, with game-altering effects.
  • Item Quenching System: Customise your favourite gear further with this new system that expands build depth and experimentation.
  • Nightmare Mode x16: For players who want to test their mettle, 16 increasingly savage levels of post-game difficulty await, with fresh enemy behaviour, not just stat buffs.
  • New Enemies & Factions: The fanatical Circle of the Black Dawn rise to fill the dragon’s void, and they’re bringing devastating new threats with them.

All of this has been sharpened by community feedback gathered during Early Access, with improvements to combat flow, difficulty balancing, and UI design making Dragon is Dead feel better than ever.

If you’re after tight, punishing action layered with deep RPG systems, it might be time to embrace the madness and join the fight. Just don’t expect mercy.

Dragon is Dead is available now on Steam. You can grab the full game or wishlist it on the official Steam page.
