Days Gone Remastered is launching this Thursday, 25 April, on PlayStation 5, but PC players won’t be left behind. Bend Studio has confirmed that all the visual and technical improvements coming to PS5 will also arrive on PC via Update 1.08, completely free.

There’s a catch, though. If you want the new Days Gone Remastered modes, Horde Assault, Permadeath Mode, and Speedrun Mode, you’ll need to pay £7.99 / $10 for the Broken Road DLC. But the patch itself? That’s a win for all existing players.

Here’s what’s coming in Days Gone Remastered Update 1.08

  • DualSense haptic feedback support
  • Accessibility options
  • Improved world visuals
  • Atmospheric overhaul: New sky and light simulation for more natural colours and sunlight
  • Darker nights
  • Upgraded ambient occlusion and lighting
  • Double shadowmap resolution at highest quality
  • Other performance improvements

When Days Gone first launched on PC in 2021, it already looked solid for an open-world game built on Unreal Engine 4. These updates push it even further. From richer lighting to improved shadows and a much moodier night cycle, the remaster sharpens what was already a good-looking title.

It’s a shame, then, that we may never see Days Gone 2. Sony reportedly turned down the sequel pitch and cancelled Bend’s next big project earlier this year. But who knows? If Days Gone Remastered finds a fresh audience, maybe there’s still a shot.

And honestly? The game deserves that chance. It may not reinvent the genre, but it tells a gripping story with strong characters and a world that feels genuinely dangerous. Days Gone was a sleeper hit, and with this remaster, it’s getting another shot at the spotlight.
