Netflix’s upcoming Gears of War film has found its director, David Leitch, known for action hits like Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, and Hobbs & Shaw. He’ll also produce the movie alongside his partner, Kelly McCormick, and game developer The Coalition, under the 87North banner.

Leitch won’t begin work immediately, as he’s currently prepping How to Rob a Bank, starring Nicholas Hoult, Anna Sawai, and Zoë Kravitz. Meanwhile, the script is still in the works by Jon Spaihts, who previously wrote Dune and Prometheus.
There are also rumours about the movie’s cast, with former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista rumoured to want in on the action.

Announced in 2022, the movie will stream on Netflix. Its development gained traction following the success of The Last of Us and Fallout.
