It’s time to dust off your tactical skills because Commandos: Origins is officially on the way. Kalypso Media and Claymore Game Studios have announced that the game will launch on April 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). But that’s not all—PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are now confirmed for later in 2025.
If you prefer a physical copy, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will hit shelves on May 22.
A long-awaited return to tactical warfare
It’s been over four years in the making, but Claymore Game Studios is ready to bring Commandos back to life. Studio director Jurgen Reusswig summed it up best:
“The Green Beret couldn’t have said it better with his iconic phrase ‘Consider it done.’”
From setting up a new studio to refining the game through community playtests, the team has been hard at work. Now, players can finally experience the origins of this legendary WWII task force.

What to expect in Commandos: Origins
This isn’t just a revival—it’s a deep dive into the very start of the iconic Commandos unit. Players will take control of six specialists, each bringing their own expertise to the battlefield:
- Jack “The Green Beret” O’Hara – The backbone of the team, tough as nails
- Thomas “The Sapper” Hancock – Explosives expert, always ready to blow things up
- Francis T. “The Sniper” Woolridge – The long-range assassin
- Samuel “The Driver” Brooklyn – A getaway master
- James “The Marine” Blackwood – The water-based specialist
- Rene “The Spy” Duchamp – A master of disguise and deception

With over 10 missions set across Arctic tundras, scorching deserts, and war-torn European cities, you’ll need to use stealth, strategy, and teamwork to outmanoeuvre enemy forces. Multiple paths to success mean you can sneak, climb, and even hijack vehicles to complete objectives.
The game also supports two-player cooperative multiplayer, letting you tackle missions with a friend either online or via local split-screen.

With its real-time tactical stealth gameplay, Commandos: Origins looks like a return to form for the series. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, this is shaping up to be one of the most intense strategy experiences of the year.
