I’ve been keeping an eye on this one for a while, and now it’s finally here – Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is out in the wild. This is the debut project from French indie team Sandfall Interactive, backed by publisher Kepler Interactive (yeah, the folks behind Sifu, Tchia, and Pacific Drive). You can grab it now on PlayStation 5, Xbox (yep, it’s on Game Pass), and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Set in a world that’s drenched in Belle Époque vibes but twisted with fantasy, Expedition 33 isn’t just here to look pretty—it’s telling a story that hits hard, backed by a heavy-hitting voice cast. I’m talking Charlie Cox, Jennifer English, Ben Starr, and even the legend Andy Serkis. You can play it in English or French, and both versions are fully voiced with the same cinematic energy.
But what makes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 more than just another story-heavy RPG is the combat. The team’s gone for what they call “reactive turn-based battles,” which blend timing and tactics in a way that’s fresh and really satisfying to dig into. Character builds are fully customisable, and the game lets you explore a huge, hand-crafted world map packed with secrets, beautiful places to discover, and tough side quests if you’re up for a challenge.
And if the soundtrack’s your thing, Laced Records has released the entire Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Original Soundtrack on all major streaming platforms. It’s massive—154 tracks, over eight hours of music, and it goes all in on the game’s emotional highs and lows. Composer Lorien Testard brings the heat, with vocals by Alice Duport-Percier and guest spots from Victor Borba and Ben Starr (who also voices the mysterious Verso).
