Indie developers Alterego Games and The Naked Dev have unveiled their latest creation, City of Springs. This steampunk adventure game combines robot crafting with thrilling one-on-one combat, set in a dystopian city under strict control. The game launches on 31 January 2025 for PC, macOS, and Linux on Steam.
A hero in the slums
Players step into the shoes of Val, a talented mechanic living in the slum district of the last city on Earth. In this broken, clockwork-like metropolis, the government’s harsh rules dictate every aspect of life. With courage and determination, Val takes on the challenge of fighting the oppressive regime to bring change and hope to the people.
Gameplay highlights
City of Springs offers a mix of strategy, exploration, and storytelling. Players craft and modify robot drones to battle city guards in one-on-one duels. These fights require precise timing and smart tactics to win. Alongside combat, players explore the city for resources, sneak past guards and cameras, and help residents in need.
City of Springs balances action and stealth, giving players the choice to fight their way forward or avoid trouble. Exploration is encouraged, with rewards for discovering hidden areas and completing quests.
Developer’s vision
Vincent da Silva, Lead Game Designer, shared their goals for the game:
“We wanted a game where players can decide how to approach challenges—whether through combat or stealth. It’s story-driven but still casual, so anyone can enjoy it. We also wanted players to feel like their actions make a real difference in the world.”
