Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had a rough start. A new report from The Game Business shows that sales are down in Europe. And not by a small amount.
Black Ops 7 faces tough comparisons
According to GSD data, physical and digital sales are down 63% when compared to Battlefield 6. That gap looks big on paper. But Battlefield 6 is not on any subscription service. Players must buy it to play. So its sales will naturally appear higher. Because Black Ops 7 is on Xbox Game Pass, the actual player count is likely much bigger than the sales suggest.

The tougher comparison is with last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Sales are down by more than 50% year-on-year. That’s despite Black Ops 6 also launching on Game Pass. So the drop cannot be explained by subscriptions alone.
Even with these lower numbers, Black Ops 7 still became Europe’s best-selling game of its launch week, ending 16 November. It topped both units sold and revenue. Battlefield 6 landed in fourth place.

The franchise is far from fading. It still brings in strong revenue for Microsoft and Activision. But the scale of the decline raises questions. Are players shifting to Game Pass? Or is interest in the 22-year-old series finally slowing down?
