Black Myth: Wukong has only just set a new bar for action RPGs, but Game Science isn’t stopping there. At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, the studio revealed Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the next chapter in its mythology-inspired series.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui teaser trailer
The announcement came with a CG teaser trailer. It didn’t show gameplay, but it did confirm the focus of the story. This time, the spotlight shifts to Zhong Kui, a legendary hero in Chinese folklore often linked to demon hunting and protection against evil spirits.

Like Wukong, the new game is being built as a single-player action RPG. Beyond that, details remain under wraps. The studio was clear that development is in the early stages, meaning fans shouldn’t expect to see real gameplay anytime soon.
The success of Black Myth: Wukong has already placed huge expectations on what comes next. But with no release window shared, it’s safe to assume Black Myth: Zhong Kui is still years away. A realistic launch could be closer to 2028.
Even so, the reveal makes one thing clear: Game Science is committed to turning Black Myth into a full series of games rooted in Chinese legends. For fans of dark fantasy worlds and myth-driven storytelling, that’s very good news.
