It’s been a long time coming, but Black Myth Wukong is finally heading to Xbox. Game Science has announced that the action RPG will arrive on 20 August 2025, exactly one year after its release on PlayStation 5 and PC platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Xbox players have had to sit tight for this one. After watching PlayStation and PC fans dive into the mystical world of Wukong last year, the wait is nearly over. And if you’ve been holding out, there’s good news: pre-orders open on 18 June.

A world steeped in ancient legend
At its heart, Black Myth Wukong is inspired by the legendary tale Journey to the West. But it’s not just a retelling it reimagines the classic in a bold, action-heavy style. You take on the role of the Destined One, a mysterious figure whose path is linked to ancient myths, twisted magic, and hidden truths.
The game’s world feels alive, full of tension and wonder. You’ll travel through lush valleys, ruined temples, and surreal dreamscapes, each one offering something new to discover. It’s not just about fighting—it’s about uncovering the stories behind the world around you.

Combat that challenges and rewards
Black Myth Wukong biggest strength is its combat. It’s fluid, responsive, and built around choice. You’re not locked into one style instead, you can mix powerful staff techniques with spells, magic vessels, and shapeshifting abilities. Every fight feels different depending on how you approach it.
Bosses stand out too. Each one has their own identity, fighting style, and backstory. They’re not just there to block your path they play a real part in the journey, often revealing more than you’d expect through their actions and dialogue.

Stories told through battle and silence
What sticks with you isn’t just the visuals or the action; it’s the emotion behind it all. Black Myth Wukong does something rare in action RPGs: it builds genuine character into the enemies. Their rage, sorrow, and ambition all tie into the broader story, giving you more to think about long after the fight is over.
The game balances intensity and introspection well. While combat is always at the centre, moments of stillness, dialogue, and exploration help ground the experience.

Xbox fans, it’s nearly your turn
With its release on Xbox Series X|S this August, Black Myth Wukong is opening its doors to a whole new crowd of players. It’s been one of the most talked-about action RPGs in recent years, and its arrival on Xbox could easily make it one of the platform’s standout titles in 2025.
Whether you’re coming for the combat, the lore, or the jaw-dropping visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, this is one to keep your eyes on. Make sure to check back on 18 June when pre-orders go live.
