If you’re into action RPGs and high-stakes multiplayer battles, Vaultbreakers might be your next obsession. BetaDwarf, the team behind Forced, Forced Showdown, and Minion Masters, has finally revealed their new game, previously known as Project F4E. It promises a fresh take on ARPGs, blending brawler combat with tactical extractions in an evolving fantasy world filled with danger, mystery, and shifting alliances.

This top-down PvPvE adventure lets you take on intense missions solo or with friends, but what makes it stand out is its reactive gameplay. Missions change dynamically based on your choices and even NPC actions, keeping every run unpredictable. Expect to explore dark caves, uncover ancient rituals, and adapt to unexpected events as you fight for survival. And then there are the Changelings—shapeshifting enemies that can be controlled by AI or real players. This means every encounter could be completely different, forcing you to decide whether to engage, avoid, or even team up with them for your own gain.

Playtest kicks off on January 31st

You’ll have a variety of Champions to play as, each with unique abilities, and you can customise your build with perks, items, and powerful Artifacts to gain an edge. If you’re competitive, leaderboards and ranking quests will let you prove your skills against other players. Steffen Kabbelgaard, CEO and Game Director at BetaDwarf, describes Vaultbreakers as a game where “unpredictable events triggered by Changelings or other players” create a fresh, skill-based multiplayer ARPG experience that keeps players on their toes.

If this sounds like your kind of game, you won’t have to wait long to try it. A closed playtest starts on January 31, featuring the first two chapters of the narrative campaign. Participating players will also earn Legacy Points, which unlock rewards that carry over to the full release. You can request access via Steam or the official Vaultbreakers website, and if you’re a content creator, there’s a Twitch Drops campaign where viewers can earn playtest keys by watching partnered streams.
