Shueisha Games and Apog Labs have officially revealed ATMOSFAR, a cooperative survival game set in the skies. The game is planned to launch on PC via Steam in 2026 and features a world built around floating islands, airborne creatures, and mobile bases.
Explore the skies with friends or fly solo
ATMOSFAR is a survival game where players explore a vast open world suspended high above the surface of planet Tycos. Floating islands, unusual biomes, and strange weather systems define the landscape. You can play alone or with up to three friends in online co-op.
At the centre of the experience is the Cloud Cruiser, a large, slow-moving airbase that you can customise and control. It acts as your travelling home, workshop, and launchpad. You can store fuel, carry smaller vessels, and decorate its interior to your taste.
Take control of the Wasp
A key part of gameplay is the Wasp, a smaller flying vehicle used for exploration, transport, and combat. There are four different types of wasps, each with its role:
- Utility Wasp – Sets up camp and handles basic survival
- Cargo Wasp – Transports heavy materials
- Scout Wasp – Ideal for fast exploration
- Fighter Wasp – Can stun threats in aerial combat
Each Wasp can be upgraded and personalised. You can swap out parts, install new modules, and add custom designs or paint to match your style.
Gather resources, craft upgrades
Survival in ATMOSFAR depends on finding and using materials from the environment. Players collect scrap, break it down into parts, and use it to build tools, machines, and other equipment. Fuel, consumables, and advanced modules can all be created from the resources you gather.
Customisation plays a big role. Whether it’s replacing engines or repainting your ship, the game allows players to shape their fleet and base it the way they want.
Stay alert in a changing world
The skies of ATMOSFAR are unpredictable. You’ll face strong winds, storms, and changing day-night cycles. Flying safely means staying aware of your environment. Your backpack powers your tools and life support, so managing energy and keeping your gear in good shape is essential.
Alien plants and animals are part of the world, too. You’ll explore new ecosystems, study their behaviours, and use what you learn to stay alive. Weather conditions like jet streams or lightning storms can create extra challenges when navigating.
ATMOSFAR blends exploration, crafting, survival, and cooperative play in a setting that’s far above the usual landscapes. With its modular ships, flying base building, and a world full of secrets to uncover, it aims to deliver a fresh take on survival gameplay.
