Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) is having a moment again, and it’s a bit surprising.
Out of nowhere, the six-year-old shooter is pulling big numbers on Steam. The main reason is easy to see. The game just dropped to $5.99 (£4.70) with a huge 90% discount. That kind of price is hard to ignore, especially for a title that many players still rate highly.
On top of that, Infinity Ward has added a double XP weekend, which makes jumping back in feel even more worth it.
Modern Warfare resurgence shows the power of a big discount
Right now, Modern Warfare (2019) is sitting at over 30,174 players on Steam. For an older Call of Duty game, that’s massive.

What really stands out is how it compares to the newer setup. The current Call of Duty hub, which includes Warzone and newer titles like Black Ops 7, is sitting much lower. Somehow, this older game is doing better on its own.
It says a lot about how players feel.
When Modern Warfare launched in 2019, it changed the series in a big way. Crossplay, a fresh engine, and the start of Warzone all came from it. Not every game after that hit the same level.

This sudden comeback feels simple. Good game, low price, and players are ready to return. Sometimes, that’s all it takes.
