Crossout goes full Firestarters with the Playing with Fire update (new saws, blades, and brawls)

Things are getting properly messy in the Wasteland this week, because Gaijin Entertainment has pushed a new Crossout season live: Playing with Fire, and yes, it’s exactly as subtle as it sounds. The update leans hard into the Firestarters faction, bringing new parts, new ways to delete enemy vehicles, and a fresh set of brawls to keep the chaos rotating.

New Firestarters gear: Claws, saws, discs, rockets

If your build philosophy is “make contact, then make it everyone else’s problem”, the headline additions are very much for you:

  • Hyena track platform, which throws out retractable “claw” blades at range (and gets nastier the faster you’re moving).
  • Thrust, a dual-purpose wheel-saw setup that can ram up close and also fire heavy projectiles.
  • Butcher disc launcher, firing discs that latch onto enemy parts, chew through them, then pop.
  • Inquisitor multi-barrel rocket launcher, for anyone who still prefers their destruction delivered at a distance.

In other words: it’s not just “more fire”. It’s a whole toolkit for turning enemy builds into scrap art.

New and returning brawls

Alongside the parts, the mode list has been expanded and reworked in a few interesting ways:

  • Precious Driver is a brawl with a twist: one teammate gets randomly selected as the “most precious” point scorer, and both teams end up playing protection detail while trying to delete the opposing VIP.
  • At Gunpoint has been reworked with a first-person cockpit view, which should make ramming feel even more personal (and possibly more terrifying).
  • Ice and Fire puts you into pre-assembled vehicles armed with either fire or cryo weapons, so it’s basically the Wasteland’s version of choosing violence in different flavours.

Gaijin Entertainment says the full brawl schedule and the complete feature list are on the official Crossout site, which is worth a look if you’re planning your sessions around specific modes.
