Kratos is back, and this time he’s getting a full trilogy makeover. Sony Santa Monica teased the God of War Trilogy Remake at State of Play, giving fans just a glimpse of the Greek saga in all its violent glory.
Details are slim. The game is early in development, but according to TC Carson (Kratos voice actor), the next update will likely give fans their first proper look.
God of War: Sons of Sparta is now available
While the remake waits in the wings, PlayStation 5 players can dive into Kratos’ past today with God of War: Sons of Sparta. The long-rumoured 2.5D Metroidvania is priced at $29.99 USD / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3480 and promises a fresh take on the God of War story.
Sons of Sparta puts you in control of Kratos as he hones deadly spear and shield skills. The game blends iconic classics with hand-drawn 2D pixel animation, courtesy of Mega Cat Studios.
It’s not the full-scale next chapter fans hoped for, but it’s a clever way to revisit Kratos’ world.

Sons of Sparta is a solid stopgap while the trilogy remake builds momentum.
