CI Games has shared a detailed look at combat in Lords of the Fallen 2. The new deep-dive video runs over 40 minutes. It focuses on how the team is improving the feel of fights while learning from past feedback.
Lords of the Fallen 2: ‘Lifting the Veil’ Ep. 8 Dev Update
This sequel has an unusual place in the series. The original Lords of the Fallen was released in 2014. A reboot followed in 2023 and performed much better commercially. Now Lords of the Fallen 2 continues from that reboot, not the first game.

Combat seems to be the main priority. Game director James Lowe describes it as “bolder, braver, bloodier.” The team wants fights to feel quicker and more responsive. Movement and manoeuvrability are getting special attention. New animations should also make attacks look less repetitive.
Weapon flexibility is another focus. Players can swap smoothly between melee combat and spells. Dual-wielding is also returning, as many players enjoyed it in the 2023 game.
The developers spoke openly about past mistakes. They want to fix pacing issues and reduce frustration. Lowe also repeated a key goal: respecting the player’s time. That means clearer progression and fewer slow sections.

If these changes land well, Lords of the Fallen 2 could finally give the series its strongest entry when it arrives later in 2026.
