The upcoming souls-like RPG Beast of Reincarnation showed up at Xbox Developer Direct 2026, where it was confirmed to launch in summer 2026. It’s a big moment for a game that has quietly built a lot of curiosity.

The project is being developed by Game Freak, best known for the Pokémon series. This is a sharp shift from their usual work, and the new gameplay shown made that clear straight away. Darker tone. Heavier combat. Less comfort, more danger.

Beast of Reincarnation is coming in summer 2026

Beast of Reincarnation is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan. The world has been scarred by a strange blight, and massive creatures now roam the land. The new footage offered a closer look at ruined cities, broken landscapes, and hostile enemies waiting around every corner.

Combat focuses on what the developers call a “one-person, one-dog” experience. You play alongside a wolf companion named Koo, who is not just there for show. Koo plays a key role in exploration, combat, and survival as you hunt down powerful beings known as Malefacts.

The goal is simple, but not easy. Cleanse the blight. Take back the land. Survive what’s left of Japan.

There’s also good news for platform owners. Beast of Reincarnation will launch at the same time on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. No waiting. No timed exclusives. Just one shared release window in summer 2026.
